Fabulous and Free in the Smoky Mountains

There are so many fabulous and free things to do in the Smoky Mountain area. As you select your Smoky Mountain Vacation cabin, think about creating time to enjoy the cabin as just quality time together, but, also be sure to deliberately reserve time to discover the great outdoors and other scenic and fun areas of interest that are truly Fabulous and Fun!

In the Smoky Mountain Area there are the 3 main communities of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville. One place to plan on a great time with kids or friends is at the many free community parks in the area. Plan a picnic, take a walk, try some photos at the parks in the area.

Sevier County Parks are Free and each has a lot to offer! 
 Herbert Holt Park, located at the entrance to Gatlinburg right as you’re coming in,
Herbert Holt Parkis a subtle quiet park hidden away from the bustling city. It features
a pavilion, play area, a walk trail and free fishing for kids under 12 in the river! The
pavilion can be reserved, please call the Gatlinburg Community Center for
Mills Park, located just off highway 321 (stoplight #3) and below the Community
Center, is a lovely area and famed locally for the high school games they hold
throughout the year! The park features a pavilion, a couple play areas,
basketball court, soccer field, track field and within walking distance to the
Gatlinburg Community Center. The pavilion can be reserved by calling the
Gatlinburg Community Center.
Mynatt Park, located in Gatlinburg, is another beautiful, expansive park with all
the amenities. This park features: A large pavilion, large picnic area, tennis and
basketball courts, baseball field, 2 separate play areas, and free fishing for
kids under 12! Pavilion can be reserved by calling the Gatlinburg Community Center.
Patriot Park, next to the Historic Old Mill, is a great example of “Less is more!”
The park is a big, wide open space featuring a walk trail, flags of all 50 states,
a historic missile, pavilion and gazebo, and The Winterfest Lights! Also, the Old Mill
complex features a bakery, candy store, toy store, pottery store, several craft stores,
a creamy, the Old Mill and the Old Mill Restaurant.
Pigeon Forge City Park is located by the Pigeon Forge Community Center and behind the
Kroger store. The park is next to a river, and is in the area of the Community Center and library.
The park features two swimming pools (at the Community Center), a playground, tennis court,
a pavilion and picnic tables. Pavilions can also be reserved. To reserve, call the Pigeon
Forge Community Center.
Sevierville Park, located on Park Road, is a beautiful park with all the amenities,
such as a seasonal swimming pool, walk trail around the park, a woods area and river,
basketball, soccer, baseball, tennis areas, and a large wooden play area called Mount Ton of Fun!
Picnic tables and pavilion reservations are also available, to reserve a pavilion, please
call the Sevierville Community Center.

Free for all…

Sevierville, Tennessee has several fun places to visit that have no admission fee. The core of downtown Sevierville is the Sevier County Courthouse and you can find it in the center of downtown Severville. Discover the statue of Dolly placed in honor of Sevier County’s favorite daughter and enjoy walking in the same steps Dolly did as she began her career in Sevierville, Tennessee.

Also in Sevierville is the Bushes Baked Bean Museum that is free to all and quite a bit of fun! All ages will enjoy a trip through the museum with interactive displays and more that will entertain the kids and the adults.

Fabulous FREE things to do

Great Smoky Mountain Natioinal Park

Of course, the National Park is the #1 attraction and it is FREE to enter. If you plan to park and get out you will need a parking pass which is readily available and inexpensive. Areas such as Chimeny Tops, Metcalf Bottoms, and Little River Road are all excellent places to adventure at no cost other than time to connect with Nature. Cades Cove is a very popular and free area of the Smokies, along with Roaring Fork Motor Trail and both are highly recommended.
